The Regional Secretary of Community Tourism organized a seminar focused on the promotion of culture and nature through the implementation of community tourism
This morning, more than 45 people from Oé-Cusse district have participated in a seminar organized by the Regional Secretary of Community Tourism in order to commemorate the World Tourism Day. The event, under the caption “The promotion of culture and nature through the implementation of community tourism”, was opened by the Substitute President of Authority, H.E. Mr. Arsenio Bano and has gathered different sectors including the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), the Director of Technical School, community leaders, youth representatives and students.
During her speech, the Regional Secretary for Community Tourism, Ms. Inácia Teixeira highlighted the need of joining efforts between the government and the communities in the promotion of tourism. “What we are developing in Oé-Cusse is Community Tourism, so it is essential for the people to understand that we need to work together and that it will be the community the one that makes the decisions throughout the whole process”, Ms. Teixeira claimed and stressed the importance of leading role that private sector should take in tourism development: “The local private sector should think to start investing in the local industries, specially for products and services in tourism”.
Ms. Teixeira also introduced an ambitious community tourism development plan for the next year, which aims to broaden the impact in three more areas: Bene-Ufe (Citrane); crossing of Usi-Taco(Lela-Ufe) and Taiboco; and Abani.
Participants welcomed the inclusive tourism development approach that ZEESM –TL presented for upcoming year and agreed to take an active role in development.
