19 Outubro, 2017: AGRO-EXPO Seminar: “Building a competitive agricultural sector in Oé-Cusse Ambeno”
The conference, organized by the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, has counted on international and national speakers coming from seven different organizations that have presented their own experience and knowledge on sustainable production
The AGRO-EXPO Seminar of Oé-Cusse Ambeno started today with a great reception. Under the caption “Creating our Agricultural Future”, the conference has gathered hundreds of attendants who have moved into the Palaban precinct of Pante Macassar to heard about new practices on sustainable production.
The Seminar, organized by the Regional Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development in RAEOA – ZEESM TL, aims to bring together experts and participants from Timor-Leste and abroad, involving private and public-sector institutions, civil society’s and development partners. The main objective of the conference was to start an informed dialogue that assists the Oé-Cusse Ambeno region in promoting organic agriculture processes as a key element in its vision for building a more environmentally aware territory.
In that way, speakers coming from Australia, Indonesia and Timor-Leste have presented and shared with all the attendants their own experience and knowledge on the field of sustainable production. In addition, the seminar intention is to start the process of a constructive dialogue among local leaders, chiefs of sucos, regional stakeholders and local producers to create an agenda of priorities and strategies for the development of the agri-business sector in Oé-Cusse Ambeno.
In total, seven different organizations have taken part in the AGRO-EXPO of Oé-Cusse Ambeno: UNDP, World Neighbors, Oxfam, Balitjestro (Indonesia), Trade Invest, DITKREO, and Figus Sol Nascente (FSC).
