Beach Clean-up in Oé-Cusse
On Thursday, 26 September 2019, a group of colleagues from the Regional Secretariat for Community Tourism and UNDP met to make their contribution so that Oé-Cusse remained clean and green. A total of twenty people joined a new beach clean-up initiative from RAEOA-ZEESM TL with the collaboration of UNDP.
The team picked up enough plastic and inorganic trash from Lifau Beach to fill 8 bags. Teos, Lando and Molo (6, 8, and 7 years-old respectively) felt inspired and motivated from seeing the work and decided to help and give a hand by collecting residue with the team.
The reunion’s goal is not only to make sure our beaches stay clean and beautiful, but also to help promote eco-awareness and plastic recycling in our region. Through this activity we aim to protect our oceans and prevent harm to the Timorese ecosystems.
