12 December, 2017: Entrepreneurs from Oé-Cusse compete for technical and financial support

On Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th of December, 103 entrepreneurs presented 24 Business Plans for the competition of business ideas.

The Business Incubator in Oé-Cusse (OBI) is a work space created to offer entrepreneurs access to the resources they need, all under one roof, the Secretariat of Community Tourism.

Under the slogan, “Oe-cusse promove Negosiu sira ne’ebe Inovativu”, twenty-four groups (103 entrepreneurs – 65F / 42M) presented their business idea to the evaluation panel composed by Ms. Inacia da Conçeicão Teixeira, Regional Secretary for Community Tourism; Mr. Batista da Silva, head of Department of Information and Promotion of IADE; Mr. Salvador Gomes, Director of BNCTL in Oé-Cusse; and Ms. Maria Laura Fiorotto, ZEESM-UNDP Project manager.

Among the businesses represented are tais transformation, palm sugar, handicraft, pottery, coconut oil, tofu, dry meat, tailor shop, carpentry, coffin, and tour guide services.

The participants presented their business idea, followed by questions, constructive feedback made by the jury. Each group has been scored and, to be selected for financial and technical support, the groups must demonstrate quality in different aspects: Innovative idea, Existing market, Women and youth participation, and Sustainability among others. The groups that obtain the minimum score will pass this last selection phase and receive equipment and technical training to improve the quality and design of their products and modernize and scale up their production.
