July 28, 2017: Contestants from the Darwin Dili yacht Race visit Oé-Cusse
Pante-Macassar, Oé-Cusse, Timor-Leste: 28 July 2017:
The Regional Secretary of Community Tourism, RAEOA-ZEESM TL, together with several representatives of tourism businesses welcomed two yachts which had sailed from Darwin, Australia and arrived in Pante-Macassar, Oé-Cusse Ambeno.
After braving seas of up to 36 knots, the crew of the Anastasia (Darwin) were the first to arrive followed by the SV Complexity (USA). Welcomed by locals, RAEOA – ZEESM TL staff and tourism officials, a detailed program for upcoming days was presented to the crew.
On the 28 July 2017, the tourists will have an opportunity to experience a tour of community tourism in Oé-Cusse, starting with a visit to Oesilo, a highlands region, where they will visit the mud geysers, explore models of tais weaving and taste local produce. Then they will go to the Mercado Fronteira (Border Market), the largest in the region.
On the 29 July 2017, some of the guests will visit Nibin, to learn from community leaders about the integrated agricultural systems practiced in Usi-Takeno, while others will relax in the main beach side town of Pante Macassar.
The crews will continue their visit to Oé-Cusse for several days, depending on the sailing conditions.
