Senior Official Mission in Oesilo
Wednesday 13th of November, representatives from the Royal Norwegian Embassy, UNDP, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and RAEOA ZEESM TL participated in a Senior Official Mission in Oé-Silo to as a part of the Cross-border and Peace building project.
The visitors were able to observe first-hand the results of the project by talking to the locals, seeing their production and even experiencing the cooking of traditional foods.
The cross-border project in Oé-Silo (Timor Leste) and Napan (Indonesia) has been implemented since November 2018 by UNDP with funding from the Norwegian Embassy. Thanks to this project, Timorese and Indonesian population have been able to improve their livelihoods by obtaining training and support on entrepreneurship and food production. The initiative has reached 608 people from 152 households.
The visitors were amazed by the quality of the production and the results from the efforts that have been put into this project. Lazima Onta Bhatta, Deputy Resident Representative for UNDP Timor Leste, concluded after listening to the beneficiaries that the project in Oé-Silo and Napan “is a perfect example of the partnerships we need to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals”.
This Senior Official Mission is a crucial manifestation of the commitment to peace-building of the Indonesian and Norwegian Governments as well as the commitment of the Indonesian Government to develop a South-South and Triangular Cooperation framework with Timor-Leste.
