August 16, 2017: The entire Atoni youth meet for the first time in an event aimed to create networks for youth development
The event, organized by the Regional Youth Centre of Oé-Cusse and supporting by the National Secretary of Youth and Sport in collaboration with ZEESM TL, has gathered nearly 150 youth people from Passabe, Oesilo, Nitibe and Pante Macassar districts.
For the first time, a municipal initiative has gathered the entire Atoni youth in an event aimed to promote the creativeness and create networks between young people from the four sub-districts of Oé-Cusse. Nearly 150 young men and women representatives from Passabe, Oesilo, Nitibe and Pante Macassar have actively taken part in a five-day fair that has been a big success.
In total, five stands were installed in the Regional Youth Centre of Oé-Cusse from Friday 11th until Tuesday 15th of July. There, the participants took the opportunity to promote and sell their local products as Tais, traditional pottery or local food. In addition, the Atoni youth could also express their creative talent and show their technological skills in an especial arts and IT stand.
On Monday, all of the participants took part in a competition of local products where Mr. Daniel Maunu, Director of Education of SAR (Special Administrative Region), was involved as a judge. Finally, these five days of celebration finished on Tuesday with a traditional singing and dance performance by AHHA Students.
The event, organized by the Regional Youth Centre of Oé-Cusse and supporting by the National Secretary of Youth and Sport in collaboration with ZEESM TL, constitutes a new empowerment space for young people in Oé-Cusse. According of Marcos Elo, Responsible for Youth Entrepreneurship in the region, “this event is really important because young people can share their creativeness and experiences and it makes them believe in themselves to do whatever they want”.
